One of the first things that you have to do is to find the best
location, bearing in mind head room clearance and with no obstructions such
as wiring or fixtures. First measure carefully inside and out
to establish the correct location on deck. A six inch hole saw
will work for the taking it through the fiberglass skin and the
balsa core but not through the inner fiberglass skin
on the other side of the balsa, this will be used as a base for
the prism. (See Photo 1)
If not using a hole saw, use the prism as a template for marking the area where the
hole is to be made, plus 1/4 inch all around to leave room for sealant. The ring is
used to mark the location of the screw holes.

Once the hole is done you will need a 4 3/4 inch hole saw to cut the inside
portion of the deck. If the inside of the deck is also your headliner then you may
want to cut from the inside to get a smoother finished cut on the inside.

If you have a space
between deck and headliner you can
cut the 4 3/4 inch hole from the outside to keep the mess
from going inside the cabin. (especially the fiberglass sawdust
of the inner skin.(photo 3)
